Re-Branding »MBO Postpress Solutions GmbH« [Komori Group]
PROJECT
POSITIONING, CORPORATE DESIGN, INFOGRAPHICS AND MEDIA
Companies are organic structures that harness the dynamics of the market, with its mega and micro trends, as well as new technologies, as drivers of their growth. This process is often strategically guided by leaders who have a concrete vision for the future of the company and wish to steer its development in that direction. This was also the case for MBO Postpress Solutions, a Swabian company that enjoys an excellent international reputation in the printing industry by virtue of its folding machines.
The reason for the rebranding was not only the desire to reposition itself in the market but also within the KOMORI Group, to which MBO has belonged since 2020. Thus, the focus of the project was not only on revising the corporate design and formulating a new corporate identity with vision, mission and values but also on introducing employees to the new corporate story.
MAKING OF
Contrary to the usual approach of developing a brand story that elevates the company, I pursued a minimalist approach with the client, reducing the conceptual and graphic foundation of brand development to its essentials. The results of this process are concise core elements that interlock and contribute to a consistent communication.
This approach allowed us to develop elements that simultaneously highlight the affiliation with the parent company and the individual corporate identity of MBO. The color scheme and typography from KOMORI were adopted and expanded with new graphics. The diverse product portfolio found its counterpart in a series of icons, and the vision of »Platform 4.0« was visually expressed through a schematic representation of a Smart Factory, which digitally controls an autonomous workflow. These elements are used on the website and in print media, such as technical data sheets, product catalogs and advertisements.
The most significant reduction occurred in the formulation of the brand promise: a claim that incorporates the letters of the name and expresses that while mechanical engineering is part of the core business, MBO also strives to expand its current field of activity. »Manufacturing Beyond Optimization.« M.
