»ROUNDTABLE« INTERVIEW [004] MAGDALENA SCHMID
While the death penalty was abolished in Germany in 1949, it is still common in the USA for people to be sentenced to death [as of 2023]. Driven by the dogma »An Eye for an Eye,« the death penalty is carried out even when, for example, the victim‘s survivors are against it and protest in the streets.
In the project »No One Wins Tonight,« graphic designer Magdalena Schmid has engaged with this topic and created a book that sensitively raises awareness of the double-edged nature of guilt and atonement.
I wanted to know more about the project, so I spoke with Magdalena about the context, her motivation and the process.
