PROJECT
STORYTELLING, STORYBOARD, INFOGRAPHICS AND VIDEO EDItING
A promise of digitalization is that everything that can be automated will be automated in the future. This is also known by the Swabian machine manufacturer MBO from Oppenweiler, renowned worldwide for its folding machines (industrial folding of paper and similar materials). With the CoBo Stack, MBO has added a collaborative robot to its portfolio, which automatically stacks machine-processed piles of signatures and finished brochures from the conveyor onto pallets.
MBO wanted to introduce this product innovation with a short animation film, which I had the pleasure of realizing in collaboration with Momenti Media (film) and Lorenz Wiedemann (3D animation).
The requirements were to present the machine itself and its digital intelligence. Using input from workshops where the robot’s functionality was clarified and initial ideas for the video were developed, I created the storyline, look, infographics and storyboard.
To highlight the CoBo Stack’s feature of recognizing different package sizes and calculating how they can be stacked stabely, the idea of using a buzzer as a key visual was conceived. This buzzer, like in a game show, triggers a process that determines the size of the next package to be processed by the machine and placed on the pallet.
