In 2020 the NGO Viva con Agua St. Pauli e.V. teamed up with the Stadtpalais in Stuttgart to promote the launch of the »Quellengalerie«, for which they invited me to design the outdoor area and stairs of the Stadtpalais, a listed building, once the domicil of the last Württemberg King Wilhelm II.
Inspired by the collaborative spirit of the project and its credo »water is a human right« I centered my work around the theme »everything is connected«. A characteristic of water and the first of three axioms of »be water my friend the methodology«, which lead to the idea to design a compass to connect the Stadtpalais in the city centre with the Quellengalerie located in the north, by letting the compass-needle point towards the direction of the location »Im Wizemann«, hosting the exhibition. As a main eyecatcher, the word »Meer« [ocean] has been written on the entrance stairs, refering to »Stuttgart am Meer« [Stuttgart at the Beach] an yearly event organized by the Stadtpalais.
