Having studied in Schwäbisch Gmünd, where the educational model stands in the tradition of the bauhaus, the development of the new customer’s magazine for Rosenthal „Radikal Zeitgemäß“ (100th bauhaus anniversary) was a great chance to reflect the influence of the generalistic "form follows function concept" in today’s world of design and to combine it with Philip Rosenthal’s progressive ambition of connecting creative minds to sharpen the definition of what is special and extraordinary.
The magazine is served in bright neon, has a hole in the cover, 116 pages, colorful pictures and slick typography, accompanied with icons for each article, playfully revealing the editorial perspectives on the bauhaus-concept. As a cherry on top, Rafael Bernardo contributed the graphic composition "Moon River“, an interpretation of the magazine’s cover-design (cover of a cover) inspired by Rafael Bernardo’s creative journey „be water my friend“.
The limited edition (12 x 35x50cm / 6 x 50x70cm), that has been silkprinted on paper by Gmund with a specifically blended neon-color and a beautiful dark solid honest black, will be presented during the bauhaus anniversary exhibition at Rosenthal’s store in Munich and at the headquarter in Selb.
