The jewelry-brand SALOME tasks MHDK [designstudio co-founded by Rafael Bernardo in 2009] with the design of the lookbook for its new collection. The originality of raw materials such as stone, silver and gold inspired a picture language that combines traditional product/model-shots with 3D-Shapes and structures to express the tension between materiality and wearer.

The result is an ethereal black & white scenography that isn’t used for a normal magazine, but a lock-seamed poster that becomes a Leporello when unfolded. The colourful backside of the poster shows a gold nugget, standing in contrast to the minimalist black and white front. The content features allusions to the namesake play SALOME as well as combined quotes from said Oscar Wilde piece. One should yield to temptation, for who knows whether there’ll be another chance? [2014]
